BLACK FRIDAY TWO-SENTENCE STORY CHALLENGE
Flash fiction is supposed to be short and fast, and it doesn’t get much faster than two sentences! But it’s a holiday weekend here so I wanted to make this fun.
(I saw this on CS Wilde’s blog and LOVED the idea. I spent longer thinking about my two sentence reply than I have for whole sections of stories.)
THE CHALLENGE: Write your best two-sentence story in the comments section below, post the challenge on your blog, and make sure to leave the link to your blog in your reply.
Did you get all that?
- Leave your two-sentence story in the comments.
- With your blog link
- And post it in your blog
Careful! It’s harder than you think!
THE REWARD: as always, the recognition of your amazing talent, as signified by like and shares to your reply here.
READY? Here is the prompt you add onto. A story stem, if you will:
THE SHOVEL HIT SOMETHING HARD. THEN THE SCREAMS STARTED.
It can be any genre you want: humor, horror, romance; anything at all, as long it’s ONLY a two-sentence story.
Now get after it!

Party pooper.
So? Are you writing a book? Or did you?
Because you should if you haven’t and I’d read it if you did…

Oh, you definitely have a book in you. I read a LOT of posts yesterday on your blog (I stopped clicking “like” to not look like a stalker). You have a book there.

Damn, I am not awake today! I totally missed that. I could edit my comments to not make myself look silly but people already know, I think.

Hand clasped so tight to mouth he hardly breathes, index finger bitten deep. From severed foot blood ebbs away to the screams of hell’s expectant doormen.

I return the tool to its hiding place, wondering why the boss thought percussive maintenance on the roller coaster panel was a bad idea. It always works when the thing gets jammed.
