I paid WAY more attention to this than I should have.
As soon as my blog views for the year started to creep up to a big number, I started watching it. By doing a projection calculation, it seemed we would have 50,000 views in 2017.
We passed that weeks ago.
Then in December it was possible, with the contest results and everything, to get to 60,000.
60,000 times people cared what I had to say.
I don’t have to tell you, it wasn’t that long ago – two years ago – when I would’ve been happy to have 5000 views for the year.
But as we roll to the end of 2017, we passed a huge milestone. 60,000 views is big, and having 35,000 visits – from people all around the world, sometimes for countries I haven’t even heard of – that is just amazing.
I’m not gonna throw my arm out trying to pat myself on the back, but I will say this: it’s you guys who do this. You are the one to like the posts and give the feedback and share and re-blog and pin on Pinterest and other places like StumbleUpon, and that’s what gets us so many eyeballs.
I could not be working with a better bunch of people. You guys are the best.
I don’t know if we will do more than that in 2018 or not, and I don’t care. What matters is, we did it. You did it. I did it. Us.
Because we are awesome.
Three years ago I was determined to make this happen. And it happened.
Today I stand here looking forward saying I’m going to make some other things happen.
I’m going to grow a mailing list to 10,000 subscribers. I’m going to publish a book that sells better than its predecessors. USA Today bestseller list type numbers.
I’m going to have bigger, more successful contests, and I’m going to publish more amazing anthologies with more amazing writers!
These things are going to happen, too.
Maybe not by this time next year, but they are definitely going to happen.
And I’ll be glad to have all of you with me when they do.
