Super Blog / NY Times Bestselling Author Anthology UPDATE

a super blog 1LAST WEEK we talked about a central site for a dozen authors to feed their combined talents and readership and create larger fan base potential for them all.

CLICK HERE to see my comments just after a  reblog I did that gave me the idea, and CLICK HERE to read about my idea for an anthology book to get us New York Time Bestselling Author status. You really need to read both.)

The first thing I thought we should have was decide the genre, but it seems like we should get the interested parties together first and see what genre we all happen to be in.

Here’s what we need:

  1. twelve (or more) victims authors
  2. A cool name
  3. Great artwork and logo
  4. We might have different sites for additional genres. Makes sense. I have written two that could go under Romance, but there are romance elements to my sci fi thriller. Don’t rule yourself out, cowboy!

Uh… and content. Eventually.

THIS is likely to become a springboard for our NYTBSA anthology effort (NYTBSA = New York Times Best Selling Authors).

Think about it: and if the blog site posts once a week, each of the twelve authors only has to post there one time every three months for it to be successful, but will receive additional exposure each week. And of course we’d want some starter content, like your bio, and maybe samples of some of you works for fans to read, how to contact you, a link to your home blog or whatever. You get the idea.

HERE are some suggested names and some preliminary artwork. What are some other good names to consider? Have you seen an image that just shouted “twelve artists” to you? In a good way?

POSSIBLE NAMES (suggested by Rachael Ritchey to get the ball rolling):

Write Brigade: could have some sort of cool looking firefighter sort of logo, but with writing stuff on it…

Entertainment Escape: something like someone running out of a dark tunnel? Or some other equally action-ish thing. Or wrists in handcuffs?

Total Fiction: could be almost anything…a conglomeration of genres (but might be too busy). But I like some of the adverts for Total Recall where the dude is coming to pieces in little squares that look like they’re being blown away by the breeze. Instead of a dude, we could do that to a book? Not that I know how, but would be cool.

The Origins: some sort of ancient looking, shiny symbol sort of thing.

Mash Fiction: hmm….would need to be something kinda epic, I think… (for some reason when I see this one I think ‘mass’ instead of ‘mash’)

Concoctions: an open book with something “concocted” rising out of it…a yummy drink? a dessert? an action scene? a bomb? a crazy gun? So many options.

Smoke & Mirrors: smoke and mirrors, obviously. haha I think with a reflection of something would be cool, too.

Figmentation: Since, in my mind, this is a play on words combining: figment [of the] imagination, I’m thinking something kind of surreal would be good, but what I have no clue! I just like the idea.

A Curious Mythos: this one feels almost steampunk to me…with old wooden clockfaces, mists, leather…. OR, it could go more the route of ancient Greek or Roman mythology.

Suggest you own names!

Also, I’d like your comments on the name and possible artwork, or names for the site. Have at it.

Thanks to Rachael Ritchey for doing all the initial work, and to the rest of you who contacted me.

  1. Sounds cool – if I can help, let me know. Group name suggestion – Literary Vandals (could be a bit edgy?) Mightier Than The Sword (in reference to the pen, naturally) The Fictionalists… oh dear, I could be here spouting off all day. I shall follow this project with interest!

    1. Normally, I’d agree that certain names sound good or I’d throw in my own suggestions, but past history has taught me that doing so will cause people to conclude those are the ones I want and they’ll stop making suggestions, so I will actively encourage others to continue to suggest names.

Also, if there’s a website somebody thinks has a good look that we could emulate, feel free to share the link.

      1. I completely get it – you need as much input as possible. If I think of anything else I’ll pop back and leave another comment haha! Good luck with all this, it’s a brilliant idea.

        1. Really, I don’t need a lot of input. I’m just trying to be nice.

Actually, there could be a terrific idea out there from somebody that is WAY better than what I’d come up with, and why miss it because they’re shy, you know?

  2. Cool! This is really happening. I love it! My favourite names are Total Fiction and Figmentation, although I also like Figment, all on its own. If I was to toss a name into the hat, it would be The Liars Lair.
    This is a great idea!

  3. Dan I love the idea. What about “Into The Light”. Everything is being brought out of the darkness into the light.
You can have words or phrases coming out of a dark tunnel into the sunlight, falling towards the ground (the world).

        1. I’m writing my randomly generated story plot right now. I’ve been without power since Tuesday but am at my parent’s house right now doing laundry and catching up on s-t-u-f-f.
