I hate to say it, but sometimes if you succeed you can overlook things you did wrong along the way. When you fail, you tend to analyze everything. Sadly, we more often learn from failure.
I don’t agree completely with this. I do agree that we learn from our mistakes but I don’t think the mistakes made by people who are really good at something are generally a big failure. The underlying idea is usually good and the presentation and finer detail may need work, even a lot of work, but the concept needs to be sound.
I agree if you learn from your mistakes. If you put out mediocre writing and don’t care, then why are your writing at all. I’m learning as I go, but also learn from others.

That’s definitely true. If you’re not learning, you’re not doing anybody any good.
