As the beta readers work their way through my book, we are getting some really good reports! (Wanna be a beta? There’s still time. Click HERE.)
The Navigators is thrilling as h*ll.
“Didn’t think I would enjoy this book as much as I do, since I’m in for fantasy 9 out of 10. But The Navigators is thrilling as h*ll. Thank you for giving me this opportunity.”
A most enjoyable romp
“I’d scheduled two chapters a day, but got through it a lot quicker.”
Grabs you in chapter one and doesn’t let go
Think finding a time machine would be all fun and games? Think again. “The Navigators” is a shining example of what could go wrong. Well written, with characters you can relate to and adventures you will be glad you missed (like being stalked by a saber tooth tiger), Dan Alatorre grabs you in chapter one and doesn’t let go until the very end. You’ll be glad you spent the time to read this book. – Larry Rueschhoff, author of “Surviving the Fall”
There is something in here, something from the spirit of Isaak Asimov and all those days when I started reading science fiction.
It’s a beautiful story!! Beautiful! There is something in here, something from the spirit of Isaak Asimov and all those days when I started reading science fiction. Your story really teleported me back in those distant days. A real time machine!!
I think you are a true story teller, Dan. The writing is so clean, just bare bones story; nothing gets into its way, no words wasted. I noticed that from the very first time I read one of those chapters and I said it right then. And you kept the magic rolling all the way. You definitely strike something inside the reader.
Keep going! You should really think of continuation of The Navigators.
Until later,

I am up to chapter 14, and can wholeheartedly endorse what all of you are saying. Fast paced and brilliant, and I cannot wait to know what happens next.

I always try my best, as I’m a bit of a perfectionist, but that was supposed to be a secret!

Well, I won’t tell.

Is it too late to say I’m not crazy about your book cover? I feel like your name gets lost.

I’m not crazy about THAT part of it either. How’s the rest?

I like the cover over all. Maybe a different color for your name?

Maybe. I was never crazy about the font for my name. I prefer plain and legible.

I like a little flair personally but little is the opportune word. lol

As a name by itself, it’s cool. Neat font and all that.
As an advertisement for the guy who wrote the story, it’s not. Too dark, too frilly/hard to read, too easily lost on the page.
Maybe plainer: Times New Roman font, black, possibly bold. Even then it’d get lost on the page. Black across the orange top, with the image moved down? Now that would work… but then the bottom might be too plain!

Have you considered orange?

I’ll consider anything.

And taking a close look, I agree with you the font is really foofy, too much.

I am at chapter 20. Oh my gosh! so much has happened in these 20 chapters. I HATE Findley! I’m so disappointed in Tomas. Will Barry and Melissa just get together for crying out loud?
It’s really good so far!!!

I’m on chapter 15. I read it before but like this version better, it’s a bit fleshed out even though there’s so much action it never drags. I think the characters are well written and the plot is NOT predictable which is good because there’s nothing more frustrating than figuring out a plot in the first few chapters.

I’m up to Chapter 18 and just wanted to let you know I’ve mentioned you and your work in my new blog post on ‘What I am Working On’ which is a series outlining what I do creatively each week. The beta read had to be in there of course! 🙂 Come by and take a look! http://goo.gl/4q3L9L

Thank you, Dan! Looking forward to revealing the finished illustration soon! Past page 100 in The Navigators last night. Findlay is evil and things are getting interesting with Tomas. I’ll have to read more to find out what happens!
