No, you little introvert, you probably don’t. Here are some reasons why you should and a few tips to make it go smoothly, from Frank Allan Rodgers by way of friend of the blog Kelly Abell:

Frank has lots of great ideas, and so does Kelly, so you can learn a lot from them!
I’m still on vacation so you get another reblog today. CS Wilde is friend of the blog and and offers some insights for you.
There is a comment in the post regarding indie authors. I know it reads as a slight but that’s just an opinion. You know I support indie efforts 100% but that doesn’t mean some people don’t carry the old preconceived notions. The other stuff in that post was helpful, though.

gosh, too bad I’m self published – guess none of that will work for me. sigh.

Sorry that comment reads as a slight, but that’s an opinion. The rest of the post is helpful. And it doesn’t hurt to be reminded that some old stereotypes still exist, so we have to be that much better/more careful/diligent.

laughing. I just think it’s funny since I’ve done a good deal of those things and they have been successful for me that he puts that in there. LOL.

Maybe that’s his perspective or that’s how it is where he lives, or that was his experience. Clearly it’s changed.

I found that interesting, the note, to say you’re not self published? Either we’re lying to get in, or we’re inferior as self pubbed authors, so don’t bother? A little harsh for Indies.

Yeah, that comment stung a little, but it just goes to show that preconceived notions are still out there and that we have to be on our guard to be that much better.

I know plenty of Indie friends doing book signings at Barnes and the likes using the same methods, yet open arms receive them. So I still don’t get it. But either way, the profits are much smaller, so signings are still for promotion, not as much for immediate profit.

I had hoped people wouldn’t get caught up on that one comment and might look at the other good things he said. Many indie authors are well-received at bookstores, in my experience.
But good for you guys for sticking up for indies. I’ll be more careful who I reblog in the future.
