5 Reasons To Join NaNoWriMo

HERE are some reasons to consider NaNoWriMo, from our very own friend of the blog Rachel Poli.

In a few days, we’ll run the reasons NOT to do NaNoWriMo.

But for those of you on the fence, Rachel explains the benefits of such an (insane) endeavor!

Enjoy!

Hi Dan – I have signed-up for the first time for this year’s event. I’m going to give it a good go but it’s certainly going to be a challenge to fit it in with other writing commitments. Do you have any advice for new people like me? Thanks!

So according to my powers of addition and skills at calendar usage, you’re going to post about why NOT to do NaNoWriMo a couple days after Nov 1? Oo, clever boy, because we’ll already be doing it by then — TOO LATE TO STOP NOW!

Well, that’s the plan, at least. First novel, first NaNoWriMo, high hopes, no idea what I’m doing, heart pumping with fear… No, wait, is that excitement? No, I was right before, that’s fear… Well, we’ll see how it goes. (( Eep.)) 🙂

I’m not actively trying to discourage anybody from doing NaNoWriMo. If i wasn’t 70% through writing my latest novel, I might try it. But I thought it would be funny to do an anti NaNo post right after it started. I could be wrong. It might just piss people off.

I doubt it will piss many people off. The folks who didn’t sign on will be reassured that they made the right decision, and the people who are participating will still be so busy writing that (sorry) they probably won’t be reading many blog posts that day. Now, if you wrote a post halfway through the month about giving up on NaNo, you might get a different reaction… 😉
