Go, Dan, Go! (Part 3)

Marvel at my wordiness!

You guys are supposed to be writing a story – a short story or part of a bigger novel, whatever – for the writing contest and anthology.

So I wrote one, as I’ve mentioned a few times, and I started another project I’m keeping you up to date on, more or less.

(A quick ad before I continue.)

Your amazing piece of writing could be the one to take the top prize and be published in in our horror anthology called “VOODOO.”

(Okay, I’m back. Seriously, you should totally enter that writing contest! I would. Probably.)

I’ve been writing a murder mystery for a collection of whole books for a different anthology.

So I decided since it was almost due, I’d better start.

I wrote my 4000 word short story for VOODOO on July first, then on July 2nd, I started the murder mystery I was supposed to be doing all summer.

Here’s my progress so far:

x 4201 short story for Voodoo July 1, all 4k
1 2142 July 2, 2018
2 1592 July 2, 2018
3 2233 July 3, 2018
4 2882 July 4, 2018
5 1801 July 5, 2018
6 1922 July 6, 2018
7 1335 July 6, 2018
8 1383 July 7, 2018
9 1539 July 7, 2018
10 1810 July 8, 2018
11 1704 July 11, 2018
12 2632 July 12, 2018
13 2191 July 13, 2018
14 3510 July 15, 2018
15 1341 July 15, 2018
16 428 July 15, 2018
17 1171 July 18, 2018
18 1670 July 19, 2018
19 1055 July 19, 2018
20 1966 July 20, 2018
21 1194 July 21, 2018
22 1193 July 22, 2018

That’s all words written in July so far, and I plan on writing the whole thing before midnight July 31st. I have to average about 2400 words per day between now and then to finish on time.

Subtotal for the murder mystery: 38,694

Total for July is that plus the 4k short story, so 42,895. I’m a little impressed with myself, I’ll admit it.

The plan is to get this story all written in July.

And to have it be

(A) a quality story, not just 65k of words (so far so good there, as per my critique partner), and

(B) have it be a real page turner

We’ll see how it turns out. But I feel confident so far. (There are some amazing surprises in it.)

With 65% of the month gone, I have 60% of the story finished (as of Sunday morning July 22, 2018). I got a little behind when that Young Authors Camp was going on here all last week.

This is going to be where my story ends up: a whole new book by ME, in an massive anthology with a bunch of other whole books. Like 25 or more.

PLEASE  preorder the whole book anthology.

It’s called alled Death and Damages and it’s on sale in preorder for $0.99 right now.

My book alone is worth that! This thing is a steal!

    1. Thank you, thank you!

I think I got about 3500 words done today before lunch. Hoping to have a nice chunk after dinner and end up with 5000 for the day. Cross your fingers!
