Food For Thought (a.k.a. A Writely Kick in The Rear)

perseverance

Kinda makes sense, but you’d be surprised at how many don’t do that.

Thoughts?

If you’re going through hell, keep God by your side. A coworker and I were losing our jobs and I knew in my heart that I’d find another job. It was her first year teaching. She gave up and went back to the corporate world. I’ll never forget a conversation I had with her. I told her I knew everything was going to be alright. She just responded, “I wish I had your faith.”

Hi Dan,
There were times with my last book it was painful to keep moving forward with the story. It was even more painful going back through re-reading what I wrote and editing it. There were times when I couldn’t do it and I would take a few days reprieve. I made a promise to myself I would finish my manuscript, publish it, even if it didn’t sell. It was totally part of the healing process. Yes, I had to kick myself in the butt more times than I like to admit.

I think we’ve all been there. Working with new writers, I can tell you forcing yourself to finish is a big deal. There’s nothing worse than having 10 stories started and none finished.

We have a phrase for people who do that: Not published.
