I Need To Find Time To Write

your humble host

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You won’t find it. You have to make it.

Schedule it.

We get done what we plan and schedule, not what we hope will happen.

Consider writing the way you consider your job, and view your writing time as gold. Protect it. Guard it. Value it.

But when it’s time to write, write. No email, no Twitter, no Facebook.

When your head hits your pillow tonight, if you got your writing done you’ll feel good.

If you didn’t get your writing done but you are all caught up on your TV shows, how did that bring your writing goals closer to realization?

Do you want to write a book or what?

Choose the right thing.

Choose the write thing.

    1. If you have babies that wake you up in the middle of the night, that will wreck any kind of schedule, but my next-door neighbor said try to write when the baby naps. So I did try to do that. If they are a little older, then you may find they start to have a schedule themselves as far as napping for two or three hours after lunch. I was able to be very productive during those times!

But either way you figured out and then you cling to it desperately

  1. So true — the writing time never “comes”. It is made! During my raising children days, I worked part time with newspapers as a reporter and as a motor route driver. After the kids left for school, I’d drive to the office and turn in my story, then skip over to McDonald’s for coffee and pancakes and write for awhile in a back seat booth. Then I’d leave to go drive the route and be home when the kids arrived! Oh, those were the days — and I found the time. Now I’m retired and it’s easy! Yay!
