Dan, are you up already? It’s 10am in France. So you really do get up at 4am. Not that I didn’t believe you, of course…..

The thing is, get up and write, not get ip and read email. Right now I’m getting more tea. Then back to writing.

I agree and throw rocks at mine all the time, however, they do tend to throw them back every so often so then I resort to bribery.

I believe it would cause everyone to think if you threw more rocks. I have never thought of stirring people by throwing rocks. I usually write what I think at the time, and leave it at that. I do wish you well as you pursue what you think would stir people to a new level.

I think this is terrific as long as you don’t take it too far. Too far and you get “Perils of Pauline” type stories where the conflict gets ridiculous and exhausting to read.

I can’t disagree with that. The problem with most writers is, they don’t do it enough.

I agree! If everything is just hunky-dorry, then there is no suspense, anticipation, shock, surprise, etc. and that is what makes a good story. By the same token, too much is too much and finding that perfect balance is the key.

It’s hard to do too much if it’s a well-written story. Most of the time we don’t have enough tension in stories and that’s why they are rather bland; and if they are well written, it’s hard to have too much tension. But it absolutely can be done! And too much is then too much!

Throwing rocks is the fun of writing! And, for me, writing has been fun since I first held a pencil over a piece of paper and strung words into a sentence: age pre-first grade. (I’m too old to have been lucky enough to be exposed to pre-school, or kindergarten!!)
