On a basic level, I do think a piece is better if you can put a bit of yourself into your writing – your personality or your experiences.

I think it’s a must. Readers can spot a phony. They may not be able to articulate it but they’ll feel something was off.

If I’m not laughing when I read it back to myself, I assume you wont be laughing when you read it. And that matters to me, even if laughter wasn’t on Frost’s list. LOL
