NOT MINE. LUCY’S!

Followers of Lucy’ Brazier’s blog or Twitter or Facebook or whatever will no doubt think YESTERDAY was her birthday, as I did. And it was only this morning that she explained TODAY is her birthday.

Well why do we care either way?

 

A few reasons.

 

First, as a friend of the blog, we say happy birthday on Facebook. (I did that yesterday.)

Then, without a pre-scheduled post for Sunday and a lot of boring writing stuff I’d like to procrastinate from doing, we need a reason to celebrate our author friend!

   

Lucy has a VERY popular book series (I have them all). The Portergirl series has just released its 3rd book and an omnibus of all three, PLUS she’s been hired to write a scathing political book she can’t talk about, PLUS she’s writing Portergirl #4 PLUS she has a TV show in the development stages.

So because I probably wanna be on TV, we feature our friend Lucy today.

But first, realize how much Lucy has contributed here:

• She comments on my blog all the time.

• She occasionally comes up with repeatable quotes for writers.

• She wrote stories for our first scary anthology, The Box Under The Bed

• She has done interviews here, written and by video.

• She was a celebrity judge in our writing contest

• She has done guest blog posts for us and a lot of other blogs

• She had her house nearly burn down and kept right on going

• She writes stuff that we can learn from and become better writers. This post was a fave

• And she allowed a real time review of her book to be posted here – a chapter by chapter series of posts of my thoughts on her book as I read it – a daunting feat for anyone.

• She hosted my family at Cambridge and gave me a walking tour – twice.

  

In short:

She keeps cranking out the books and networking and tweeting and doing videos and blogging and generally making the most of her literary days as she keep moving up the writing world ladder.

Lucy has been a great example of hard work, she’s been a terrific friend of the blog, and a she’s become a good friend of mine.

Okay, but so what? Why should we celebrate her HERE?

Because, silly: look at how hard she works here and everywhere else to be successful at writing. She almost never says no to helping others in the writing way. She spreads the word about what we’re doing. She networks and has created a ton of friends who want to help her.

She’s a terrific example of how hard we should all be working, and every time I wonder how she finds the time to do everything she does, I think about when people ask ME how I find the time to do all the writing stuff I do.

I don’t know, I just do.
