Here’s where I am so far.

You guys are supposed to be writing a story – a short story or part of a bigger novel, whatever – for the writing contest and anthology.

So I wrote one, as I’ve mentioned a few times, and I started another project I’m keeping you up to date on, more or less.

(Okay, I’m back. Seriously, you should totally enter that writing contest! I would. Probably.)

I’ve been writing a murder mystery for a collection of whole books for a different anthology.

So I decided since it was almost due, I’d better start.

I wrote my 4000 word short story for VOODOO on July first, then on July 2nd, I started the murder mystery I was supposed to be doing all summer.

Here’s my progress so far:

That’s all words written in July so far, and I plan on writing the whole thing before midnight July 31st. I have to average about 2400 words per day between now and then to finish on time.

CAN I DO IT???

Subtotal for the murder mystery: 38,694

Total for July is that plus the 4k short story, so 42,895. I’m a little impressed with myself, I’ll admit it.

The plan is to get this story all written in July.

And to have it be

(A) a quality story, not just 65k of words (so far so good there, as per my critique partner), and

(B) have it be a real page turner

We’ll see how it turns out. But I feel confident so far. (There are some amazing surprises in it.)

With 65% of the month gone, I have 60% of the story finished (as of Sunday morning July 22, 2018). I got a little behind when that Young Authors Camp was going on here all last week.

This is going to be where my story ends up: a whole new book by ME, in an massive anthology with a bunch of other whole books. Like 25 or more.
