How Scary is Richard III???

When Dan had the idea to write a compilation of short stories by a lot of different authors,

I at first thought the genre (horror/scary) wouldn’t suit my style

since at the moment I am writing about (some might say obsessed with) Richard III and the Wars of the Roses.

But then I remembered a story I had written several years ago, one of the very first things I wrote on the subject of Richard, which did have a ‘horror’ theme.

With Dan’s encouragement (and he’s very good at that!) I sought it out

and realised that it would need some tweaking to be up to scratch – I have learned a lot since I wrote it.

So I re-edited it, changing a lot, adding a bit and making it more (I hope) gripping. It is based on the true happenings surrounding Richard’s last heroic battle and the shameful aftermath of his defeat.

My main character, William Stanley, who was a traitor to Richard, was later executed by Henry Tudor, the man he put on the throne, although his thoughts at the time are my own invention, of course.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and learned some new things

including how the ‘comments’ section of Word documents is used, new marketing strategies and the value of teamwork.

I have made some new friends and particularly enjoyed the ‘job’ of proof-reading others’ work.

If you are wondering whether to join in on any future similar projects,

DON’T HESITATE!

You won’t regret it!
