Another GREAT Poggi Audition!

Man, this is gonna be tough.

I posted a terrific audition for the Poggibonsi narrator a few days ago, and now we have another terrific one.

Which is better???

What do you like about this one?

Sorry to say, I liked the first choice much better. This just doesn’t fit right.

I listen to probably about 150 audio books per year, because I don’t watch TV so, they’re my source of constant entertainment, education, etc.

So, hit us with another if you’ve got it, or pick your first one.

I’ll be reblogging at campbellsworld.wordpress.com

But, I’ll not voice my opinion there. I’ll give others a chance to have their own opinion without my taint.

I am way proud of you for making this available in audio.

I encourage you to check out http://bard.loc.gov for contact info as to how you can get your book)s recorded for the physically disabled.

Don’t let its asking for password info deter you. At the bottom of the page there’s an email.

Thanks, have a fabulous day.

You Rock!

If you want to send me an email detailing what you liked about each or disliked about each, I would really appreciate it.

I have my own likes and about each and areas that I think readers might want improved for each, but I don’t want to voice it for fear of swaying the audience.

I like this Julietta voice MUCH better, and Mrs. Harriman. Naturally, the narration should be in a man’s voice though.
I haven’t read the book yet (did buy it though) but I’m assuming Julietta is a sexy Italian so this sounded more like I’d imagine her.

It’s difficult. I think this narrator has great expression in her voice, but it should be a male narrator. This Julietta is sexier, but the accent is much too exaggerated and distracts from the words. I think it’s like what I was told when writing in ‘Mediaeval’ language or when writing an accent – it’s better to just suggest it rather than overdo it. I like her tone of voice though – she’d be good as Mattie or Sam?

I specifically leaned towards female narratives for this story even though the main character is a man because the female roles are so important. Julietta and Sam would be very hard to do properly for a man. For a woman to read Mike, it’s only awkward for about 30 seconds and then once you know the main character is a man, you kind of set it aside.

So that part, I’m OK with for both narrators. But you touched on something: The Julietta accent in the second audition is too extreme. Too much. That’s probably a good assessment. The rest, I thought she did fine. In fact, I think either one of these ladies could do the job.
