Crazy Train Becomes SOUL MATES

This is just a quick mock up, but what do you think???

Do you love it? I think I love it!

Thoughts?

I figure, if other people used it then I don’t want to use it; on the other hand, if other people have used it then it’s perfectly fine for me to use it, too. If it fits, then I don’t care. If we can come up with something better, I’m happy to consider it

THAT, I did kind of steal. I saw a piece of art done that way but it was just two images, one of like a car and one of a man. Or maybe it was two people, I don’t remember. But I got the idea of splitting the one image into strips because I thought that was really neat way to have to look at it. Like through venetian blinds. And then the other images laid in between would immediately express to people the passage of time – we have a colonial soldier and then in World War I and then something else, so it immediately conveys the two things you’re trying to convey.

Then of course the lovers would be the big image cut into strips.

So maybe it’s an original thought, maybe not 100% original, but I think a cover artist could easily grab the images and make them into a really compelling book cover.

Cool.
Yeah, we can play around with all of it. I’m not 100% sold on that title because it’s been used before, but that’s not really a big deal, and the actual tag line, we are just trying to convey the message in as few words as possible. So everything is still open for suggestions!

I love the strip cover idea. Catches your eye right away and you know there’s going to be multiple layers in the story inside. So in that sense, the cover works. But…you knew there was going to be a but, right? But that actual title has been over-used already. I think the title needs to be something associated with the idea of soul mates, but something less used. A brain storming session with a visual thesaurus could produce some interesting ideas. I know, you knew all that already. Just my two cents worth.

I don’t disagree. Also, that cover image looks good when you can see large. Then you can see what it is. As a small Amazon picture, you might not be able to tell what it is. Then it doesn’t work as good. So it’s tricky. That’s why we’re doing it here! To get all that great feedback from all you smart people!

Good point. But a lot of stories can convey sappy love story that don’t mean to. So if you had to describe what the story is in a sentence or two, what would you say? Maybe we can do that and end up with a good title that way.

Once the outline is written, 90% of the story’s message is. The essence of the story won’t change. Lovers that are destined to be together. I’m not sure how to explain the concept of reincarnation except by using the word soul, but mates can be just about anything I suppose. If you over explain it, it gets sappy. If you underexplained it, it doesn’t connect. So there’s a fine line to be had but if we can think of a way to capture the essence of the message, that won’t change no matter what happens in the story.

I like the concept of the picture.. I think the strips of photos should all be black and white, and the lady should be added, maybe two of the lady, two of the guy, but that might be too much to have four, and too uniform. Also, maybe add some kind of affects to the pics to soften them up a bit and make them more dreamy.

The title is good, but Soul Mates is a bit cliched, but does fit for this story. Have you heard of Twin Flames? Here is an excerpt of what it is:

Twin flames, also called twin souls, are literally the other half of our soul. We each have only one twin, and generally after being split the two went their separate ways, incarnating over and over to gather human experience before coming back together. Ideally, this happens in both of their last lifetimes on the planet so they can ascend together. So you probably haven’t had many lifetimes with your twin.

You can Google the term and find all kinds of info.

This may be off of the wall.
It’s just the way my mind works and these are from some of my own writings which have sunk without trace.

Title: The Destinians (Taking the word ‘Destiny’ and giving those subject to it a category)
Tag Line: Be This Our Own Evermore.

There again I tend to go along with the idea that both will evolve as does the project.

(I leave Covers to my betters)

Maybe worth a try, see where the whole project leads.
Anyhows (sic) it’s interesting to see the development. Even at these early stages, the ideas coming up are intriguing to read.

I like the layout of this cover but feel we can be move inventive than Soul Mates as a title, but as a working title it’ll do fine until our collective words shake out something that we’d all say ‘yeah that’s the one’ As for the words do you want us to start writing along the lines of our suggestions, you know me I will anyway, something of say 3 to 5 thousand words, I don’t really know until I start. I guess you’ll not know what you’ve got until we start sending in our pieces, assume by email not clogging up your comment boxes? I’d kind of like to get started, I get the idea of what we’re doing, any reason not to?

I’d say if you look over some of the suggested story lines and their time periods, you can then grab what I posted earlier about those story segments and choose one. From there, simply let me know so that we don’t have three people writing the same story, or the same chapter of the same story, and you can do that by email. I think once we have the basic premises laid out, then then write to your hearts content. I would say create a decent size sample and send it over so that we can just have a look and keep tabs on everything. In my head it all comes together seamlessly, but reality may be a bit different, so it’s probably a good idea to not let somebody write 30,000 words without having a look at it early on!

I like the cover and the title. But as someone mentioned it is not a unique title, but I suppose that could be a good thing. When I suggested a few titles, I was trying to incorporate souls without using just Soul Mates, lol. But I do think I like it. 🙂
